After much more cog turning in my little brain, I came up with a way to cut the longer side chamfers. I would make use of the previous posts Table Saw Tenoning Jig: Part 2, but I would build on it further, to create a long L shape jig to be placed up against theContinue reading “Walnut Slab Part 4: Long Tenoning Jig”

Walnut Slab Part 3: Table Saw Lead On Extension
To support my walnut slab as I push it into the blade to create the chamfer on my new coffee / side table top, I decided to make it removable, so it wouldn’t get in the way each and every time I use the table saw. My plan was to add some 2×4 beams downContinue reading “Walnut Slab Part 3: Table Saw Lead On Extension”
Walnut Slab Part 2: Tenoning Jig
After much deliberation, I decided to go the easy route and turn my lovely walnut slab into a simple coffee / side table top. My thinking, was to keep it simple for my first solo furniture piece, using only my own equipment and workshop, which would hopefully allow me to concentrate on the technicalities, ofContinue reading “Walnut Slab Part 2: Tenoning Jig”
Walnut Slab Flattening
Plan So, it’s been a while since I’ve managed to get out into the workshop and after staring at a piece of walnut wood (approx 87cm long) I’ve had for probably the best part of two years… I figured it was time to do something with it. As for what I want to do withContinue reading “Walnut Slab Flattening”
Benchtop Router Table
I’ve been wanting to create a router table for some time now to make the process of routing things much easier, quicker and simpler, but until I had some other materials available, it wasn’t much of an option. After initially looking to use the Trend 1/2″ router as the main component, I realised it justContinue reading “Benchtop Router Table”
Improvised Bench Clamp / Vice
Here’s my version of an improvised bench clamp, which I used to hold the centre support for my storage cupboard, so I could then use the router to trim the edge flush, which I added to the front edge to make it look a little better than the original plywood edge.
Knobs
I decided to try to make a simple knob on the table saw, to use for clamping or tightening things down (with a T-nut and a bolt through the middle), this is in preparation for me building a router table where I want to add a fence and be able to set it to aContinue reading “Knobs”
45 Degree Miter Sled
It might not look pretty, but it makes cutting 45 degree angles a lot quicker, easier and accurate!
Circular Saw Jig
Another little jig, this one helps me cut big sheets of plywood down with a circular saw in a straight line. Made by placing one long strip of plywood (approx. 5″ wide) on top of another piece (around 8″ wide) and glueing the two pieces together. The important part to this, is that the topContinue reading “Circular Saw Jig”
My First Crosscut Sled
After using the table saw for a while now, I decided it was time to make my first sled to make cross cutting easier and safer, while also allowing me to make repeatable cuts with a simple stop block and a clamp. The red areas are to clearly indicate the ‘danger zone’ where fingers shouldContinue reading “My First Crosscut Sled”
